Paperpal Takes Center Stage at China Digital Publishing Expo

In August, Cactus Communications (CACTUS) participated in the 15th China International Digital Publishing Expo, which spotlighted emerging trends in artificial intelligence (AI) and knowledge services. Invited by the International Publishers Copyright Coalition (IPCC), the event provided a great opportunity for the leading science and technology company to present Paperpal, its comprehensive AI assistant trusted by academics, publishers, universities, and academic societies in 125 countries.

The Expo brought together nearly 40 international guests from 13 countries and regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and India. International speakers shared their reflections and questions on digital publishing, while Chinese publishers highlighted their latest practices and innovations in the field. The exchange of ideas was candid, collaborative, and enriching—a clear sign that the Digital Publishing Expo is becoming a truly global platform.

During the Expo, Nishchay Shah, Group CTO and EVP, Products & AI, Cactus Communications, delivered a keynote speech titled AI-Powered Integrity & Accessibility In Publishing: Paperpal Preflight and Cactus AI Solutions Transforming writing and Editorial Workflows and Journal Success. His session on how Paperpal is transforming writing and editorial workflows and making publishing efficient resonated with the audience, even leading to an interview with China Publishing & Broadcasting News, one of the country’s most influential media publishing organizations.

Paperpal has also been adopted by leading journal publishers around the world. Dr. Aixin Tao, VP of Strategic Partnerships at Wolters Kluwer, spoke about how Paperpal Preflight has had a significant impact on their editorial process. Wolters Kluwer began using the robust manuscript checker as early as 2021 and now has made this tool available for all its LWW journals. Authors ready to submit can use Paperpal Preflight to check for language quality and ensure technical compliance based on the target journal’s specific requirements.

So far, more than 100,000 manuscripts have been uploaded to Paperpal Preflight. By running essential checks and suggesting how authors can deliver the best version of their manuscript, the tool significantly reduces the likelihood of desk rejections and makes the submission process smoother for authors and editors alike.

The interest around Paperpal’s comprehensive AI toolkit and how it could transform academic writing and scholarly publishing workflows was palpable. Major platforms like Baidu, QQ, Sohu, Sina, Weibo, and MSN put the spotlight on Paperpal, emphasizing its value for busy academics navigating the evolving research and publishing ecosystem in China. This story was also picked up by 185 media outlets, quickly generating more than 921K views.

The love Paperpal has received from leading publishers in China signals a growing interest in trusted AI tools that can supercharge the country’s fast-expanding scholarly publishing industry. With visibility across top media outlets and endorsements from global industry leaders, one thing is clear—the publishing world is entering a new era, and Paperpal is helping lead the way
