Peer Review Week 2025: Rethinking Peer Review in the AI Era

Join us at Peer Review Week (PRW) 2025, that will take place from 15–19 September 2025. This theme is “Rethinking Peer Review in the AI Era.”

Visit the Peer Review Week 2025 Registration Page to know more and get involved!

The event promises to be one full of learning and brainstorming as we focus in on the essential role of peer review in upholding research quality and integrity.

Some questions that will be explored this year include:

  • How can AI enhance, rather than undermine, reviewer integrity and transparency?
  • What ethical guidelines should govern the use of AI in peer review?
  • How can we train and support reviewers in the responsible use of AI tools?
  • What aspects of peer review must remain uniquely human?

“The conversation on AI and peer review has shifted from ‘if’ to ‘how,’ yet much of the focus remains on what NOT to do rather than the responsible use of AI. If we fail to build clear standards and trust, we risk either slowing innovation or undermining the very integrity peer review is meant to protect. My hope is that by 2030, peer review is a human-AI partnership, but this is possible only if we evolve responsibly.” Roohi Ghosh, Ambassador for Researcher Success, CACTUS; Co-chair of Peer Review Week Committee 2025; Vice Chair, EASE India chapter
