CACTUS and Morressier Partner to Improve Scholarly Workflows with Paperpal Preflight’s AI-Powered Checks

Earlier this month, Cactus Communications (CACTUS), a science communication and technology company, announced a strategic partnership with Morressier, the startup enhancing scholarly communications, to improve the latter’s submission workflows. By integrating CACTUS’ Paperpal Preflight’s AI-powered language, grammar, consistency, and technical pre-submission checks into Morressier’s platform, the venture aims to help authors instantly polish their manuscripts while reducing editor workloads and article processing time.

Commenting on the partnership, Nishchay Shah, CTO and Business Head of Paperpal at CACTUS said, “With over two decades of working with researchers and academic publishers worldwide, we at CACTUS have amassed a deep understanding of academia. With Paperpal, we’ve distilled this knowledge into cutting-edge AI technology that helps authors in over 140 countries achieve their publishing aspirations. Now, we are taking things a step further with Paperpal Preflight’s API solution to make the technology available at a larger scale for product integrations. With this partnership, Morressier gets complete access to our comprehensive manuscript evaluation toolkit which will help improve the quality of submissions and make the publishing process smoother for researchers.”

Powered by machine learning and trained on millions of published articles, Paperpal Preflight helps researchers, especially those with English as the second language, level the playing field. Its suite of checks are designed to streamline the submission process for authors, helping them comply with submission guidelines and improve their work before submission. Authors can access Preflight from the submission platform, opting for single or batch file uploads. In a few minutes, they will receive a report on language quality and technical compliance, including references, disclosures, and more, with the option to download an edited document with improvements shown in track changes.

Driven by a mission to accelerate scientific breakthroughs, Morressier offers societies and publishers with workflows that transform scholarly communications. This collaboration allows it to further this goal. “Navigating the varying submission requirements, whether an abstract or a final publication, can be challenging for authors. Morressier’s Paperpal Preflight checks are designed to give authors a helping hand, while ultimately increasing the quality of submissions and saving time for editors,” said Mădălina Pop, leader of Morressier’s Integrity Team.
