Paperpal, an AI-powered assistant offering language and technical compliance checks, has announced a partnership with IOP Publishing for its Preflight product. Through this partnership, Preflight will provide authors with a superior manuscript submission experience and help reduce editorial workload for IOP Publishing journals, community websites, magazines, conference proceedings and books.
Commenting on the partnership, Mads Rydahl, VP Products – Paperpal, said, “Paperpal Preflight simultaneously eases the burden on editors and improves the life of authors, who often struggle to comply with detailed journal requirements. Paperpal Preflight is the only service that allows journal editors to accurately specify custom submission requirements for their journal, that provides authors with instant feedback on the submission readiness of their manuscripts, and can guide authors on where to insert missing declarations and on how to correct any grammatical errors before submission. ”
Paperpal Preflight is a plug-and-play web-based solution that comes at no additional cost to publishers. This partnership will allow publishers like IOP Publishing to immediately start using the solution without any integration dependency and also offer the tool to submitting authors.
Stuart Tucker, product manager for submissions at IOP Publishing said, “We are delighted to have added Paperpal Preflight to the submission user journey on over 50 of our journals. The service provides support and guidance to authors to maximise the chances of their article being accepted for peer review—a win for both authors and ourselves. The uptake of the service has been good and the tool is a key part of helping authors prepare their manuscript for submission.
IOP Publishing is the not-for-profit publishing organisation of the Institute of Physics. It provides publications through which scientific research is distributed worldwide, including journals, community websites, magazines, conference proceedings, and books. In line with IOP Publishing’s efforts to keep authors at the centre of all that they do, this is the first of several steps to offer synchronous and affordable author support at the point of submission.
