Paperpal does not use any of the GPT models. We have our own secure and proprietary LLM that’s trained on scholarly data in the public domain.

The possibility of text generated by Paperpal getting flagged by a plagiarism checker is very low. However, the rewrites suggested by Paperpal follow standard academic sentence structure, and therefore there is a chance that a tool like Turnitin might pick these cases up.

For example, one AI detector falsely claimed the US Constitution was written by AI. Therefore, these detectors can be used as a reference, but should not be relied on for an accurate assessment.
